Extract Audio from Video
Pull the audio track out of a video file from your device. The whole job runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. MP3 is free; FLAC, WAV, M4A and more on paid plans.
How it works
- Upload a video file from your device. Drag an MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, or MKV file onto DomeScribe or click the upload area to pick one. Nothing is sent to a server — the whole job runs in your browser.
- Select your output audio format. MP3 is free and selected by default. AAC, M4A, OGG, FLAC, WAV, and "keep original" (a straight copy of the embedded audio stream) are available on paid plans.
- Extract the audio. Click Extract. On first use your browser downloads the ~31 MB processing engine (cached afterwards), then strips the audio track from the video on your device. Short clips take seconds; long videos proportionally longer.
- Save your audio file. When extraction finishes, save the audio file to your device (a free account is needed to save). No watermarks, no upload, and the original video stays untouched.

Frequently asked questions
What audio formats can I extract to?
MP3 is free. On paid plans you can also choose AAC, M4A, OGG, FLAC, WAV, or keep the original audio stream untouched. MP3, AAC, M4A, and OGG are compressed formats ideal for music and podcasts, while FLAC and WAV are lossless.
Does audio extraction affect quality?
Choosing "keep original" (paid) copies the audio stream out of the video without re-encoding, so nothing changes. The other formats re-encode once at high quality — MP3 at the encoder's best variable-bitrate setting, AAC/M4A at 256 kbps — which is inaudible to most listeners.
Can I extract audio from a video URL?
No. The audio extractor is upload-only: it works on a video file from your device and runs entirely in your browser. Pasting a YouTube, TikTok, or other platform link is not supported here — those links can be transcribed to text, but a media file is never produced from them.
Is audio extraction free on DomeScribe?
Yes — MP3 extraction is free with no monthly limit, because the processing runs on your own device rather than on a server. A free account is needed to save the extracted file; the other output formats are on paid plans.
Which video formats can I upload?
MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, and MKV files from your device. Large files are limited by your device's memory — up to about 500 MB works reliably.
What is the best free tool to extract audio from a video?
DomeScribe extracts audio from a video file free, as MP3, without uploading the file anywhere: the work runs in your browser, there is nothing to install and no watermark, and the original video stays on your device. Paid plans add lossless FLAC and WAV output when you need the full quality.
How do I get the audio from a video without losing quality?
Choose "keep original" (a straight copy of the embedded stream) or FLAC or WAV — both lossless — as the output format; these are paid-plan options. The free MP3 output re-encodes the audio at the encoder's highest variable-bitrate setting, and at that level the difference is inaudible to most listeners.
