How it works

  1. Upload your MP4 video file. Drag and drop an MP4 file onto DomeScribe or click the upload button to select one from your device. Large files are limited by your device's memory — up to about 500 MB works reliably.
  2. Pick an output audio format. Select MP3 (free) for a small, portable file. On paid plans you can also keep the original AAC stream untouched as M4A, or choose WAV and FLAC for lossless copies of the audio.
  3. Extract the audio track from the MP4. Press Extract and DomeScribe reads the MP4 container in your browser and re-encodes (or, for "keep original", copies) the audio stream. The file never leaves your device.
  4. Save the finished audio file. Once the extraction completes, save the audio to your device (free account). The original MP4 stays as it was while you get a standalone audio file.

Which audio codecs inside MP4 files does DomeScribe support?

DomeScribe handles the audio codecs commonly found in MP4 files, including AAC, MP3, and AC-3. It detects the codec automatically and re-encodes (or, for "keep original", copies) the audio to your chosen output format.

Will extracting audio from an MP4 reduce quality?

If you pick "keep original" (paid), the AAC stream is copied out of the MP4 without re-encoding, so there is zero quality loss. The free MP3 output involves a single high-quality re-encode that most listeners cannot tell from the source.

Can I extract audio from multiple MP4 files in a batch?

DomeScribe processes one file per extraction. Upload each MP4 individually and save its audio — there is no monthly limit, so working through several files in a row is fine.

Is there a file size limit for MP4 uploads?

Because the extraction runs in your browser, large files are limited by your device's memory rather than by a server — up to about 500 MB works reliably. For bigger files, compress the video first with DomeScribe's in-browser video compressor.
