Convert Video to MP3 Online

Pick a video file from your device and extract the audio as a high-quality MP3. The conversion runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Works with all major video formats.

How it works

  1. Upload your video. Choose a video file from your device — MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, or MKV. The conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and it works the same offline once the engine is loaded.
  2. Keep MP3 as the output format. MP3 is pre-selected and free. DomeScribe encodes it at the encoder's highest variable-bitrate quality setting (roughly 220–260 kbps), so it sounds as good as the source on any speaker or headphone.
  3. Convert the video to MP3. Click Extract and DomeScribe transcodes the video's audio into an MP3 on your device. A two-minute clip is done in seconds; an hour-long recording takes a few minutes because the encoding runs on your own hardware.
  4. Save your MP3 file. Save the MP3 to your device (free account). The file is compatible with every major music player, phone, and car stereo.

Frequently asked questions

What bitrate does DomeScribe use for MP3 conversion?

MP3 output uses the encoder's highest variable-bitrate quality setting (roughly 220–260 kbps on average), which sounds virtually indistinguishable from the original audio. There is no bitrate picker in the extractor.

Can I choose a lower MP3 bitrate to save space?

Not in the extractor itself. If you need a smaller file, run the extracted MP3 through DomeScribe's in-browser audio compressor, which lets you pick 64, 128, 192, or 320 kbps.

Which video formats can I convert to MP3?

DomeScribe accepts MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, and MKV files from your device for MP3 conversion. Platform links are not accepted — the tool works on files only and never uploads them.

How long does a video-to-MP3 conversion take?

Short clips convert in seconds; longer videos take proportionally longer because the encoding runs on your device rather than on a server. The first run also downloads the ~31 MB processing engine, which is cached for next time.

Will the MP3 file include video metadata like the title?

Basic container metadata such as the title is carried over when the source file has it. You can edit ID3 tags afterward in any music library app to add artist, album, or artwork information.
